40 Days of Prayer – Day 18

And he said, “O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” Daniel 10:19
When my class was first assigned this 40 Days of Prayer devotion, my mind instantly went to Daniel 10:19. In this passage, there is the angel that bore the appearance of a man, who had come with a message for Daniel. This is obviously the same one that Daniel had seen earlier in the book whose description seemed very similar to that of our Lord Jesus Christ. This touches Daniel and he receives strength. This is extremely surprising because Daniel, at this time, would have been around 80 years old. This goes to show that we should never underestimate the continual grace and strengthening that
Jesus gives to us. Immediately after Daniel spoke of his helplessness, grace and strength were provided for him.
The very words of this angel instilled strength into Daniel. Our need during this time is no different.
The COVID-19 disease has proved to be extremely troubling for nations around the globe and there is no doubt that it has affected or is currently affecting our lives. That being said, the most important thing for us to do is look to God for the strength and guidance we require in order to persevere through these tough times. There is no challenge too big or too small for God to help us through and it doesn’t matter if it’s the COVID-19 disease, or something much more minor than that, God will help us through it. For it says in Matthew 4:4,“For man does not live by bread alone, but by every word proceeding from the mouth of God.”
