40 Days of Prayer – Day 25

“Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.” Psalm 91:9-12
Many different things in today’s world can bring you down or make you feel a sense of defeat. You might also feel stress or anxiety over future obstacles. Psalms 91:9-12 gives me so much encouragement. As a Junior in high school, I have so many things that I am worried about or that bring me down, like social media, school, the thought of what my future will hold and especially the events in the past year. In November of 2020, my grandma passed away. It was all so sudden. At first, I could not find peace in one of the biggest trials of my life. These verses gave me peace and courage that God has a plan for me. It taught me to turn to God always, not just when I need help. Sometimes all we need is a little encouragement to help guide us in the right direction. David is reminding us in Psalm 91, that we need to turn to the Lord for comfort and courage because He will always protect us and guide us down the path that he has planned for us. There is no escaping the fact that trials are always going to be present in our everyday lives. We just need to remember one important thing; turn to God in times of trials, because He is the source of our strength and courage so that we can persevere through these difficult trials.
