Welcome Katie Greenfield – Secondary Principal!

Jeremy MarshHead of School

Greetings Stillwater Families,

We write today with great news about our 2021-22 leadership team. Over the weekend, Mrs. Katie Greenfield accepted Stillwater Christian School’s offer to become our next Secondary Principal starting July 1, 2021. She will fill a vital role continuing the work begun by those who preceded her.

As soon as the head of school transition was announced, Stillwater launched a national search for a secondary principal, seeking a candidate who is passionate about student flourishing and missional excellence; could provide enthusiastic vision and direction to secondary faculty and staff; establish and maintain strong, discipleship-oriented personal relationships with faculty, students, and parents; speak Stillwater’s values in the school community; and live those values out in day-to-day work. While we received a number of qualified applicants, God continued to bring our attention back to Mrs. Greenfield. Through an intensive interview process, which included input from a cross section of stakeholders, we gained confidence that we have found the secondary school leader of God’s choosing.

Of note, God introduced us to Katie Greenfield and her family months before we knew our need when she toured Stillwater as a prospective parent looking for the right fit for her high school daughter as she and her husband prayerfully explored a new home for their family. At that time, and currently, she was serving as the Head of School at Kings Valley Christian School, a K-8 Christian school of more than 400 students in Concord, California. Her leadership tenure, which included the trying times of California’s response to COVID, was described to us by one of her references as “grace-filled, poised, focused, decisive and level headed. We could not have hoped for a better leader.” In the years preceding her leadership at Kings Valley, Mrs. Greenfield served at El Sobrante Christian School and Berean Christian High School in roles including high school teacher of History and English, History Department Head, and Director of Student Activities. Her work in these roles has given her experience with and a passion for instilling and fostering a biblically faithful worldview in the minds of students, comprehensive and standards-based curriculum development, intentional teacher mentorship, and purposeful student discipleship.

Mrs. Greenfield received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from California State University and holds an All Levels Principal certification through the Association of Christian Schools International, Stillwater’s accrediting body. She is completing her 14th year in Christian education and is excited to join the Stillwater team in pursuit of our mission to “equip students with the tools for learning through a Christ-centered education.”

As an alumni of Berean Christian High School, Mrs. Greenfield knows the transformative impact that a Christian school experience can have in the lives of students. She and her husband Josh have two daughters, Mia (sophomore) and Lily (college freshman). Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Katie Greenfield and her family to the school community and to the Flathead Valley and let us give thanks to God for his goodness and provision through this process!
