40 Days of Prayer – Day 39

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 1 John 4:18
Everyone faces fear at some point in time, and it comes in many different forms for various people, but the one thing that we all have in common is that fear stops us from doing the things that God has called us to do. These feelings can be difficult to hold back, but we are commanded to fear not. If we are walking with God every day of our lives and living in God’s perfect love we have nothing to fear, and with this knowledge, we can be strong and courageous. As it says in Joshua 1:9,” Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” God told this to Joshua when he was leading and conquering nations, but it is still just as applicable for us today. We need to focus on our love for God, and his love for us, and that he will take care of us in every situation because fear cannot be effective in our lives if we are focused on God. Because his love banishes fear, we are to move forward being strong and courageous working to fulfill his purposes.
