What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?  James 2:14

Is faith without deeds really faith? According to this verse one can see that the answer is no. But why are we told to have deeds along with our faith? It has been said that deeds are the byproduct of faith, because faith in action is deeds and when we have true faith it beckons us to obey what God commands us to do. God is so pleased when we not only have faith but when we apply our faith to what we do every day. Many times people say that they have faith and can talk about faith all day long but when it comes down to it they have no deeds to back up the faith they talk about. The hypocrisy of saying one thing and doing another or not doing anything at all is sadly quite common in our world. This accomplishes nothing besides a bad name for Christians, and it could lead people into believing that they don’t need actions along with their faith or that they can please God solely with their works and not having faith. Both of these beliefs are flawed versions of what God is truly pleased with which is when we have faith in action. When reading this verse I hope that it makes you reflect on your life and ask yourself if you are truly putting your faith in action and pleasing our Creator with your deeds.
