Identity in Christ

Day 32

Thursday, May 23, 2019

In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ.   Romans 15: 17-19

In Romans, Paul says we can be proud of the work we accomplish through word and deed when we are fulfilling the plans of Christ. All that God requires of us is our best. We are the new ministers of the glory in Christ Jesus, speaking of what God can do through us. We must be careful not to bring glory to ourselves for we have not done work through ourselves but through Christ in us. Though we may not be able to perform “signs and wonders” in the same way they once were, the Holy Spirit can still use us for greatness. We need to spread the gospel far and wide just as Paul does throughout his life. Through obedience to His word and the Holy Spirit, God can do great work through His people. I pray that we would work for the glory of God, and that we would use our gifts to promote the accomplishments of Christ. I pray that we would be an example to our neighbors, shining Christ’s light in the world around us.
