Identity in Christ

Day 35

Sunday, May 26, 2019

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.   I Peter 3:8

One of the verses that best characterizes the role of Christians towards others I Peter 3:8. So many times we as Christians don’t think of how we can serve, but of how we can be served. Just like the disciples, we want the most gratification for the least amount of work possible; we want to be God’s right hand man/woman but we don’t want to wash the feet of others. We want the kingdom of heaven, but we don’t want to be poor in spirit. We want to inherit the earth but we don’t want to be meek. There are so many programs in churches where we can be spiritually fed- Youth Group, Sunday School, VBS- but how are we feeding others? It is evident from the words of Peter, that this should not be our goal. We shouldn’t seek the best position in a church, but should have a humble mind and serve wherever we are needed. In order to be a unified whole, we should be like Jesus, humble, kind sympathetic and loving. That is what it really means to follow Christ.
