Identity in Christ

Day 40

Friday, May 31, 2019

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.  Romans 12:1-2

We have been called to present our bodies as living sacrifices to Him. Every day we receive the fruits of God’s mercy. Our conversion and sanctification in Christ is the renewing of our minds; not a change of the physical, but of the qualities of the soul. As Christians we need to put off our old selves and put on our new selves made in Christ. The greatest enemy to the progress of our sanctification is conformity to this world. It is important that we keep in mind that we don’t fall into the customs of the people who tread in the lusts of flesh. The work of the Holy Spirit starts in our understanding, then progresses to the will, emotions, and conversation, until the whole person has been changed to reflect the lifestyle and example that Jesus laid out for us to follow. So I encourage you my fellow peers to not only follow Christ’s example, but also to put off your old selves and to live in your new selves made in Jesus Christ.
