Visual Arts

Elementary and intermediate school students are introduced to the important elements of making and appreciating art, with an emphasis on important artists, works of art, and artistic concepts. Junior high and high school students are exposed to a sequential study of various media and techniques for developing skill in art. Emphasis in drawing, shading, proportion, and perspective as well as color concepts, composition, and presentation give students ample opportunity to develop their own artistic creativity. Student work is showcased not only throughout the school, but also at the annual Evening of the Arts Gala and community displays such as the Hockaday Art Museum in Kalispell.

“Mrs. B always encouraged me to pursue my passion for art,
but more importantly, she truly cared about me.
Her interest in my own personal growth helped me
to work hard and apply myself in all that I did,
both inside and outside of school.”
- C. Fetveit, SCS Class of 2020
