PTO is our Parent & Teacher Organization, which exists to build community, reduce the cost of education, and enrich the learning environment of our students. Participation is a great way to meet other families and every hour volunteering advances an element of our mission. 

Upon enrollment, all Stillwater parents of Kindergarten through 12th grade students are considered members of the PTO. Stillwater preschool families are not required to fulfill PTO hours though all are invited to participate voluntarily.

Students in grades 8-12 may also fulfill service hours for their families. Grandparents or other extended family members and friends may complete hours, too. It is important that the office knows if someone else is completing hours for you.

• Volunteering in a classroom by direct teacher request
• Donating food or making food for a school function (limited opportunities)
• Helping with a school maintenance or grounds projects
• Working concessions or gate entrances for our athletic department (Link Calendar)
• Serving as a hall monitor during the SCS Music Festival
• Covering textbooks or completing select office projects that can be done from home
• Leading a pre-approved co-curricular club or activity for students
• Cafeteria Support / HS Lunch Service (every Monday-Friday – 2 hours)
• Photographer, by request, for key school events (athletic events, dances, concerts, etc).
• Back to School meet and greet host
• Evening of the Arts table host

What if I have a good idea that seems a good fit for PTO service hours?
If parents have ideas for service, we encourage them to submit those via email to pto@scscougars.org.

• Chaperoning field trips
• Community service outside of SCS
• General classroom volunteering
• General, unsolicited donations

We encourage parents to check our weekly Cougar Column for PTO service hour opportunities. Also, pay attention to our Sign-Up Genius (SUG) emails sent periodically requesting parent help.
How long do I have to fulfill my service hours?
July 1st – June 30th of current school year.

Any unfulfilled hours will be billed through Infinite Campus.

Sign Up Genius is an online software tool that we utilize to announce PTO service hour opportunities throughout the school year. If parents sign up for a PTO task via Sign Up Genius, hours are automatically recorded and tracked by our main office. Additionally, you may email your approved service hours to mclark@scscougars.org

The diversity of opportunities throughout the year typically allow for service hours to be completed by all families, especially if the full year is used to fulfill 25 hours. For those who cannot isolate the time to fulfill service hours, we encourage you to pay the fee.

We are dependent on our parent volunteers so when something changes and you are unable to fulfill a commitment to SCS, it is imperative that you find your replacement.
